Ethiopian Airlines announces non stop service from Addis Ababa to Karachi, Pakistan starting March 26

Islamabad: The Ethiopian Airlines will commence operations from Karachi on March 26, said Jemal Beker Abdula, Ambassador of Ethiopia in Pakistan.

Ethiopian Airlines, the flag carrier of Ethiopia and the largest African airline is commencing its operations from its hub Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa to Karachi Pakistan. The airline operates to over 150 cargo and passenger destinations worldwide and serves largest destinations by any other airlines in Africa. Ethiopian since December 2011 is also a member of Star Alliance Network , the world’s largest Airlines alliance giving it even further global reach with its partner networks.

Founded in 1945, the pan-African airline is already flying to over 150 cargo and passenger destinations worldwide including Africa, Europe and America and will be an instrument to connect Pakistan with rest of the world.

The establishment of a full-fledged Ethiopian embassy in Islamabad took place in 2022, even though the two countries have had diplomatic ties dating back to 1958, a total of 64 years.

As the first Ethiopian ambassador to Pakistan, Jemal Beker Abdula has been working extremely hard to strengthen the relationship between the two nations.

Ambassador Abdula said Ethiopia accorded utmost importance to its ties with of Pakistan as both countries had a long history of working together for global peace, reported Dawn News.

“A lot of things are happening. Time is now right when there is understanding between the two countries and business communities to facilitate entry into the African market. We are talking about transforming trade compositions of the two countries,” he said.

Ethiopian has come a long way since commencing operations in 1945 with a weekly service between Addis Ababa and Cairo. Early on the airline recognized that a successful future depended on first developing a far-reaching pan-African route network. With this aim now largely fulfilled, the airline’s focus is shifting. New destinations and increased numbers of flights to Europe, the United States of America, Canada, Asia and the Middle East have been launched, as the airline goes about bringing the world closer to Africa.

Internationally, Ethiopian flies to a number of major cities in Europe including Frankfurt, London, Paris, Rome, Brussels and Stockholm; to Bangkok, Beijing, New Delhi, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Mumbai across Asia; to numerous destinations in the Middle East; to Washington D.C ,Newark and Toronto in North America.

From its hub at Addis Ababa, Ethiopian serves More than 127 international destinations and 22 domestic destinations
